There are many ways to teach students  learning english in rural. For me, the best way to teach them is by using direct strategies in class. In this strategies, the poor learners can learn more about english and at the same time they will understand every lesson in the class.Direct strategies such as teach them how to answer exam questions will help the poor learners to improve their language. At the same time, poor learners will learn how to gain more knowledge in learning english in class. We also should use indirect strategies to teach them.Fun activities such as singing, acting and guessing in games which related to english lesson will make them more interested to learn english. When they are interested to learn english, they will try to understand every word in english, it can help to enhance learners ability to speak english in class. Thank you

my opinion for science:

1. introduce vocab repeatedly...
2. create enquiry before teaching...
3. explain with various examples...
4. exercises... exercises... and more excercises... how to answer exams...

I am a pure BM stream student being a selected Yayasan Sarawak student sent to West Malaysia in the seventies. MY English then was horrible and terrible. But I managed to tackle my weaknesses with my strenghts, i.e. by reading everything in English. So my simple suggestion that in order to improve P n P either in rural or urban is give your student things(newspapers, magazines, periodicals etc) in English. If you ever catch them reading materials in BM, get hold of it and don't ever return it to them. But my warning is YOU MUST'NT READ THAT TOO, ESPECIALLY IN FRONT OF THEM.
Now I am very proud to say that even a pure English stream friends do not speak or write better than me. In fact, saya terasa janggal apabila berkomunikasi di dalam Bahasa Malaysia. Dalam proses P n P di dalam kelas saya campur adukkan bahasa pengantar saya. After all I am teaching the highest level in school, i.e. Ting 6. So my advice is read in English, speak in English and last but no the least behave just like the English.
Good Luck Teacher and make full use of your 5% and 10% allowances to improve your own English. Jangan enjoy dengan elaun itu kerana BER1DOSA kalau ia diguna untuk tujuan selain daripada untuk memperbaiki tahap dan taraf penguasaan Bahasa Inggeris di sekolah.

RELATE YOUR lesson to the things that are familiar to them. Come out with phrases that they can relate to their own experience. Teach them phrases that they can use in their routine.
Should we teach about invention, ask them to come out with ways to easy manoeuvre a motorboat engine, to install fishing tackle within 2 minutes and to autoplant the paddy seedlings using a motorbike.

Students who love sewing or cooking too can benefit from EL. Teacher can provide Recipies and dressmaking / sewing guidelines to class to teach them vocabs. Yes..  I know, a lot of preparation BUT It is only for the first term or year. What important is that our student apply the knowledge acquired or learnt and EL lesson become a success.

kalau dapat menimbulkan semangat untuk belajar maka senang untuk mengajar. Tapi nak mewujudkan semagat itu yang masalahnya.
