All Chemistry teachers,
When teaching Chapter 3 (Chemical Formulae and Equation), i came across an argument which i really need help from everyone of which term to be used when answering questions that related to this topic.

Mol and mole, which one is the correct term? Or should i say how to differentiate this two terms? All sharing are kindly appreciated. Thanks. Cheesy Cheesy

If it is in BM term, then why in our text book or even reference book, we can still see the term mol is being used when doing calculation?

I faced the same problem last year. Then, I checked the Oxford Dictionary of Chemistry. According to it,

(i) Mole is the SI unit of amount of susbtance,

(ii) where as mol is the symbol for mole.

So I think both are correct terms (in BI). It just depends on whether you want to use the word mole or the symbol mol.

Fakta yang dinyatakan C. Leong lebih tepat dan betul. Mole adalah unit. manakala mol adalah symbolnya.

Yes, I agree that mole is the term or the measurement of quantity while mol is the unit.  Normally the questions sound like this :
... calculate the number of mole of..
... calculate the concentration of ...in the unit of mol dm-3...
