- the methyl group is draw in condensed form
-is it correct?
-is it must be draw in expanded form?

Just sharing, and please correct me if i am wrong. There is nothing wrong with the diagram attach. but for drawing isomers, alkyl group must be expanded. but when explaining a reaction using chemical equation, it can be written as above diagram.

To be exact, i  prefer students to show the expanded form as the structural formula, by definition, shows the arrangement of atoms of each element in the molecule and its chemical bonds.  At this very moment, it can still be accepted in SPM exams as part of the structural formula.

2-methylpropene also can be named methylpropene because there's only one way to put double bond whereas all are identical....

En.Rizuan, ur concept is correct.  But normally side chain which not attached with number 1 must be named as 2-methylpropene. Am i correct?

helo...both answer (from mr rizuan & mr patrick) are correct, but only smart student do understand it...the important part is, our student must understand the basic concept 1st..."Hidup Chemistry"
