Describing colour of halogens.

To all Chemistry teachers,

I came across some issues raised when students are required to describe the colour of halogens. Is there any standard term in describing the colour of halogen?

Take for example:
For chlorine, should we describe the colour of chlorine as yellowish, greenish yellow or yellowish green? How about the other members of halogen?

chlorine gas --> yellowish green / greenish yellow... doesn't matter
bromine water --> brown / yellow (depand to concentration)
solid Iodine --> purple

Iodine has different colours , depending on its physical state.
Iodine solid - black
Iodine solution - brown/ yellow depending on its concentration
Iodine vapour - purple
These information is important when describing the observation at the electrodes during electrolysis

Bromine vapour - reddish brown
Bromine solution - brown/ orange/ yellow depending on its concentration

Chlorine gas is greenish yellow
