Knowledge w/out integrity is dangerous & dreadful.

« on: May 10, 2008, 12:29:44 AM »

Dear Teachers,
I've received sms, emails, and phone calls from our concerned colleagues outside there who're watching and reading about US. I don't deny that I'm very delighted watching engkabang.net grows from time to time. Even the Ministry is proud that we've one portal for teachers sharing good practices among themselves. When I put forth the idea about this portal in the meeting 5 years ago, I felt like a pariah, alone. But I didn't give up because I know there're lot of pros than cons if it's created i.e For teachers and by teachers. TEACHERS! That's it. TEACHERS! We're teachers and people outside there're judging us as TEACHERS who everyday teach their daughters and sons to become quality human capital. But my growing concern is that- as those sms, emails, and phone calls - we've to mind our language. At the stake is our integrity as teachers as among our 'fans' and 'readers' are parents and our own students. The sms-type of writing needs to be discouraged. If you feel your language needs to be improved, there're digital thesaurus or grammar master to assist you. It's no point to post bad writing, making fool of ourself, and consequently embarassing our own colleagues - Teachers. For my fellow teachers who contributed their best practices for sharing with others, thank you very much.

It's from my heart.

Assalamualaikum Tuan Awangku Merali. Apa khabar ?

I don't know what to say. Kekadang masyarakat luar begitu asyik nak jenguk lihat kelibat guru hingga lupa nak tengok diri mereka sendiri. Apa kata orang 'Semut di seberang lautan nampak, gajah di depan mata tak nampak' . Boleh nak tengok jenguk guru, tapi biarlah positif thinking.Tegur cara baik (ni untuk masyarakat luar).
Walau apapun saya setuju dengan saudara Awangku Merali.  Grin Grin Grin

I agree with Tuan Ketua Sektor, Awangku Merali and thank you for reminding us. What we post here reflect on ourselves ... our professionalism including our attitudes towards our work and the way we look at things. We need to be aware that whatever we post here is viewed by anybody and everybody who has access to the Internet. We are here to share our knowledge, our experiences and be able to inspire others.
