Just to clarify
Is it wrong for us to use a water bath for the preparation of ethyl ethanoate in the laboratory. The B.P. of e. ethnoate is around 77 degree celsius. Can we mark the students wrong for using water bath in his essay description ?
   Thank you for any clarification

Hi, the water bath is to ensure uniform heating only, should be ok when we are heating the reactants. The pure ethyl ethanoate will then be seperated from the mixture by fractional distillation after the reaction
