I am still waiting for my teacher-in-charge to feedback to me. But I know that the school have made few reports, including fax to JPN, but no action taken. My teacher had called DRBHiCOM and they only said not to worry and those PCs reported will be still under warently eventhough after the expiring date. So we keep waiting..and wait..

Eh? Mr Lee, r u in SMK Batu Lintang or SMK Belaga? Cos your story sounds like mine. Hahaha! There are 13 malfunctioned PCs in our lab. Have been reported and the vendor came to check on February, they made a report and told us to wait for their next visit. They came again last July, check the same malfunctioned PCs again, made another report for the same malfunctioned PCs. Again, they told us to wait for their next visit. Heheh! I don't know what I can do about it anymore. Not even sure who to call to ask about the status.

I dont know if the local service company for SMK Batu Lintang is the same as SMK Belaga or not, Martin. I met the service man few months ago and he told me his company is no more giving service to school cos of certain problems(ha ha). since then no one come for checking or service.
One good thing is I used the lab to conduct simple troubleshooting workshop for my teachers and my ICT students, since there are ready problem PCs and good PCs.
The server is there like Yong said. No course given to school on how to configure. Who should do the configuration? Teachers do not have a plot of time long enough to sit down to read and to learn how to configure the server unless they are being called away from schools for a day or two. Really focus to learn.

My school lab have 10 pc not functioning (hardware problem also - hdd, ram, power pack, cd rom drive). The ByTech did come to do PM last May but they did not repair the computers. They said another group of ByTech will come later to repair those computers. Until now they still haven't come. This week they will come to do PM again.

The best part of the story is that after they did the PM, I found out that 3 RAMs mising.

Yea. I heard those cases before. In my brother's school, they technicians tried to run off with lcd projectors. Luckily the teacher in charge realised it in time and the school guard stopped them. When asked, they said they need to bring it back for repairs.

Ayo...that's too bad. Luckily it can be saved. That's why I'm not so willing to let them come to the for PM. We have to be in the lab also to monitor them. But the problem is we still have to go to other classes for our p&p. Where got time to monitor them.

My school also had a case with "RAM missing in action". Cant remember the ending story.
I would still prefer the "old time system" where schools do their own ICT repair and maintenance. With the new "system grant" for the kawalan kewangan in office. It should be Okey. With the old system, I can repair the school PCs in one week, can call the vendor whenever PC is down. Now, ....  Cool wait lah.
The new system now has all the rules to "control" the contractor. The question is "Are these rules being implemented?". Where is the system of monitoring? PCs being down so long and not being repaired yet the school cannot spend money to repair them...

Yup...agree with you Mr lee. The old system is much better. I can have all the 44 computers in the lab functioning well. With the money we can buy all the parts.

I really need help from my ICT teachers to get this info regarding the status of computers n others in ur school lab esp. those malfunctioning hardwares. We are trrying to collect data so that we can speak "louder" during a meeting. With the data we will try to show to THEM that immediate actions should be taken for the sake of our students' better future. Thank you.

I am still waiting for the answer from the teacher-in-charge. I can remember one of the ByTech people took one of the MIMOS system unit for repair. For MONTHS, still not returned. Last month one of them came but he said he would check with the office.  Embarrassed Embarrassed Till now still no news.
Case like this is very difficult to keep track. Teachers don't have the time for this. By rules, they have to replace one if they took one away. How do we implement this? Discuss.

Guys, I have some things to ask. I'm confused with who is suppose to repair what.

1. Who is in charge of the computers in the lab?
2. Who is in charge of the projectors in the lab?
3. Who is in charge of the scanners in the lab?
4. Who is in charge of the printers in the lab?
5. Who is in charge of the networking in the lab (cables, face plates etc.)?

I'm asking all these because when I asked the techs who came to check on the computers in the lab, they said that they are not responsible for the projectors. How about for your schools? Which vendor is in charge for which item? Are they the same?
