Terima kasih.

An experiment is carried out to determine the order of metals in the reactivity series of metals, by using carbon element.

Observation:
1.Lead(IV) oxide and carbon- Bright embers
2. Zinc oxide and carbon- dimly lit embers
3. Copper(II) oxide and carbon-very bright embers

What is the hypothesis of this experiment?

The answer given is:
The more reactive the metal, the more brighter its embers.

But i dont think this is correct....any suggestion?

THANKS....^^

I would like to share my opinion:

Hypothesis:

1)  The reactivity of lead, zinc and copper is higher/lower than carbon.

2) The further/nearer the distance of less reactive metals from carbon, the more/less brighter its embers.

Just want to share my opinion:
Hypothesis : Carbon can reduce a metal oxide if carbon is above the metal in the reactivity series.  The greater the distance between the less reactive metal than carbon in the reactivity series, the brighter the embers.

Thanks for the sharing....

Actually im confused about the way to state a hypothesis. Is there any tips of stating a correct and perfect hypothesis? Or is that hypothesis can be more than one answer? Too many sampel answer makes me confused....I really need clarification about this... thanks.

Erm....just dont understand by the meaning of " can be accepted or rejected".

It is as long as i have write a hyphothesis, no matter it is right or wrong, will be given mark?

Thanks.

We can state the relationship of manipulated variable and responding variable as the hypothesis. But the direction is doesn't matter, although the direction maybe wrong, but the hypothesis still consider correct, because the hypothesis can be rejected.

Just want to share opinion here:
Hypothesis (state the relationship between manipulated variable and responding variable)
For eg: The harder the substance, the smaller the diameter dent formed (score 3 - in direction)
The smaller the diameter of the dent formed, the harder the substance ( score 2 - without in direction)
So, normally i will ask my student to write manipulated variable first before u write responding variable.
Its true hypothesis given can be accepted or also can be rejected.
For example: Hypothesis : Dissolving ammonium chloride in water is an endothermic reaction(this is accepted hypothesis)
Dissolving ammonium chloride in water is an exothermic reaction (this is rejected hypothesis)..As i know, both of them are correct in Paper 3 SPM.

The the highlighted one is compulsory. Otherwise it directly go the score 2.
