Hi teachers,
I just would like a confirmation here about writing chemical equation in SPM, is it compulsory to write the conditions of the reactions like temperature, pressure, catalyst needed or symbol of heating on top or below the arrow and also the state of reactants and products.will the students lose marks for not writing all that?your help would be meaningful..tq.

Hi Cikgu,
In SPM, the conditions of the reaction are not needed. If the student put in the conditions, no extra mark will given but if the conditions was wrong, then mark will be deduct.

How to mark the equation :
1 mark given to correct formula of reactant and product
1 mark given to balancing the chemical equation
If the student give the wrong physical state, 1st mark will be deduct.

Hope this can help.
