Teachers, please help me to identify which one is correct when we answer for SPM exam.
some books using combination colour and some books using one colour only to describe the colour of substances.

For examples:
1.  greenish-yellow chlorine gas      // yellow chlorine gas
2.  reddish-brown liquid bromine      //  brown liquid bromine
3.  purplish-black iodine crystal      // black iodine crystal

Hi cikgu chai,
This is just my opinion.both answes are accepted.the first choice is actually in form of range of colours because of different concentration.for example, for dilute bromine even yellow colour are written in certain reference books.and for concentrated bromine will be brown colour.but tha best answer will be the first choice.
Correct me if i'mwrong.hope for opinions from other teachers.

Hai, Cikgu Chai, for the colour of halogen, all this while i encourage my students to follow exactly as the colour stated in their text book. Well, the text book is publish by ministry, so if students follow the description in the text book, it won't be any problem or other wise, our ministry will sure be informed about any mistakes in the text book.
hope my sharing will help. Happy teaching. Smiley
