I am not so sure about the scale can be used in chemistry. Can students use 2 cm to 60 seconds as the scale to draw the graph? In physics, students are not advisable to use the scale like this, then how about Chemistry?

for chemistry, have to make sure the size of the graph must greater than 50% of the graph paper. Scale is depend to the question, ask your student choose suitable scale which can easy to take reading from the scale.

Ya, i agree with Mr Ting. For plotting graph, i'll always remind students to apply their knowledge of plotting graph as they have learned in Mathematics or Additional Mathemathics. As long as the graph must fulfill the following criteria:
1. Title of graph
2. Uniform scale
3. All axis are labelled with units
4. Points are transferred correctly
5. Best fit line
6. Size of graph

The another question that I met is like this. Draw the graph of temperature of sodium thiosulphate solution against 1/time.
As what I know, It should be draw the graph of 1/time (RV) against temperature of sodium thiosulphate solution(MV) because the title should be wrote as the graph of RV against MV.
And RV should be at y-axis and MV is at x-axis but in the text book, for chapter 1 Form 5, there are a lot of graph that label the axis the another way. Therefore, I am very confused and anyone can help me?

We just draw the graph as the question ask. For example : temperature of sodium thiosulphate solution against 1/time. So Y axis is temperature of sodium thiosulphate solution and x axis is 1/time. Just Follow that instruction sure correct.

Ya, i also face this problem when students raised the issue. According to text book, they drew in such a way the MV is at Y-axis, and RV is on X-axis. But according to topic of plotting graph, it's always RV at Y-axis and MV at X-axis. Which practice should we ask students to follow? Otherwise wrong practice will affect students' performance during examination. Please clarify. Thanks.

Concerning scale it is advisable to use...1 cm to 1 / 1cm to 2/ 1 cm to 5 / 1 cm to 10. this is because when the want to read from the graph it will not give answer in decimal...for example...if you use 1 cm to 3, 1 small scale on the graph paper is 3/5.
