Ideally, I think it's a good thing to have 2 versions. However, if we have 2 versions, some might even say, why not 3 versions? (BI, BM and Mandarin for example). Furthermore, if we have BM version, that means, our community will be divided into 2 parts, the BM-preferred group and BI-preferred group. That means, our materials will also be different and we have to check in both versions to see what we missed. That's my opinion. But then again, it's up to the higher people to decide. Heheh!

Salam engkabang.

Did you mean for the same topic with two version of language?

For sure the GUI language will remain in English.
We allow users to post in both languages.

I think he meant the same forum, but with 2 choices of language. Just like some websites where we can choose either english, bm or mandarin before we enter. like airasia website.

If that is the case, it should be no problem. The contents still the same for both version but only the GUI can choose either BM or English.

You can post using any language that you want in here. Most of us here use English not because we are more comfortable with it but because we want to get ourselves used to it. Haha! We are not saying you can't use BM. It's up to you actually. although sometimes, some may reply in different language.

Hmm, interesting...What can be achieved by having two separate versions in a single portal? What is or are the aims? Hmm, if the aims go hand in hand with the objectives and vision of why engkabang.net is created in the first place...perhaps options can be looked into. My opinion is that... suggestions are best when they answer and help engkabang.net to progress to the height it has envisioned. Otherwise, I fear at the end of the day, we may have myriad languages serving loose reasons. Always keep our eyes on the target as we move along, that is the North star, we wouldn't get lost!

Yea that's a good point. I think the biggest concern is, if we split the forum into 2 versions in terms of language, we may also split the visitors or members into 2 groups. The group that prefers BM and the group that prefers English. If we have only 1 version of language but members are free to post either in English or BM, that will still contribute in achieving the goal of this portal. As long as we don't use our own dialect to reply, then I think it shouldn't be a problem. What matters is we share and we learn.

When engkabang was borned, we all have agreed that languages allowed in this portal are BM and English only. No other dialects...not even local malay..haha .Hopefully, all forum members understand this.

This was also mentioned during the bengkel in sibu by our administrator. Its the job of the participants to convey this to other teachers from their respective school....
