Hello all,

Mr Jong please help me with this. 10 u first Smiley

Referring to your JUJ 2007 Pahang.pdf, page 6, Bil. 16, the following term is incorrect :

Melting point is the point where solid changes to liquid.

If I'm not wrong, somebody once told me the correct term is:

Melting point is the temperature where solid changes to liquid.

Am I correct?

hi, i m interested to chemistry though i m not teaching chem. But, as i know, i think both defination for melting point by mr jong n mr leong are correct. we use the point when we refer it to temperature vs time graph. there is a point where solid changed to liquid. So, refer to the y axis, the point stand refer to temperature.

Welcome for comment on my suggestion.

Hi,
Melting point is the constant temperature where solid changes to liquid at a particular pressure. Should not be a point, because it is basically referring to the temperature. Definition has to be specific.
Hi, Eric, i like your keen attitude to learn, it augurs well for you. Who knows one day you will be teaching chemistry. Keep it up!
