Hi,
For structured questions, try not to give more than one answer if they asked for one only - the wrong answer can cancel the right answer. Generally for essay, answer accordingly to the marks allocated - 1 mark for one point. Diagrams must be functional and labelled.
Hard to answer your question as it is too general. I would appreciate if your questions are  more specific.

Generally, for Paper 3 essay, it will begin with "Plan / design a laboratory expt to ...". The question will have guidelines and normally will include
1. Statement of problem / aim of expt
2. All the variables
3. Hypothesis
4. List of materials and apparatus
5. Tabulation of data ( do not fill in data /observation)
Paper 2 essay mosly begis with "Describe a laboratory expt to...''. In the answer, try to include materials and apparatus, labelled diagram, procedure, tabulation of data (with data/ observations), graph / calculations (if any), chemical equation involved, conclusion

Good morning, Mr Jong

For the 5th criteria,
5. Tabulation of data ( do not fill in data /observation)
If the students did write in the observation in the table, and  it's wrong, what should we do? Duduct the mark?

Thanks

Marks are given for the correct no. of columns and rows and also for the title of each column with appropriate units - students should not be penalised on the data / observation given

ok..thanx then..about the colour of the liquid or solid, i heard from other teacher saying that we must write specifically for example, greenish- brown colour for iron (III) ion in potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) solution,  must write just brown colour for iron (III) ion or we can write greenish brown?how about the other colour of solution such as reddish brown colour for bromine liquid? is it we need to write just brown colour for it?
how about if a question has two answer with 1 mark, like position of an element, group 13 and period 3, if the student only answer one correct like group 3 and period 3, how do we give marks?or just wrong?
thank you  Smiley

Hi,
Answer to Loh T H's questions :
For bromine - reddish brown or brown / yellow can be accepted (depending on its concentration). The term greeenish yellow( more towards yellow) is not the same as yellowish green (more towards green). For question with 2 answers for one mark - both must be correct } no half mark business here.
Answer to Jong F J's question:
Aim of an expt should start with action word such as : To investigate / study/ compare/ determine / construct depending on the context of the question.
