Is it the problem of the student himself or the problem of the teacher?
How can we solve it?

Aha!..... When a or only one pupil fails, it is of course the problem of the pupil. What to do? Ask him or her to study hard.

It happen that Sia is a student where I am teacher there. To me the person to be blame is nobody but attitude. I don't recognise you but if you can come and meet me I think I can give you some simple advise. But for the reading here is change your ATTITUDE. A STUDENT IS PAID BY PARENT TO LEARN IN SCHOOL AND HE/SHE MUST STRIVE TO BE THE BEST STUDENT. So does the teacher who must strive to be the best teacher in whatever capacity as a teacher to a student.
So Sia, be positive in your study and always positive in every aspects as a student.

Failure should never be used as an excuse to blame everyone else but yourself. Instead, failure should be taken positively, and should be seen as an opportunity to improve one's weakness(es). Everyone has failed, some more than others. Like Cg Peter Lasa rightfully said, ATTITUDE plays an integral role in a person's success or failure. Try to cultivate the right attitude by brushing off failures or taking them with a pinch of salt and focusing on your goal in life. Good luck.

I do agree with you. I used to be a weak learner at one point in my life. I did stop schooling at one level. But this had given me the chance to think - at that think as a secondary school student - that quitting was not a good decision, it made life even worse. Failure at most of the time should be viewed as a challenge.

Only the student himself / herself can make the difference. 'To be or not to be' that's the important thing to bare in his/her mind. The willingness to make a change in ones' life goes beyond anything else...

from my view, in a class or a school, there should be students who passes and students who fails.

Agree with Cikgu Duane. Look back what make them fail. Is it the questions are too difficult or the students are too playful or they don't get enough input. What I usually practice if my students fail in their exam, I'll analyse their problem first and find a way to solve it.  Usually one to one basis. More successful. Of course we need to be patient. It takes time for sure. Spend more time with them for they are slow learners. In the end they will change gradually and they will love our subjects. ......sharing through experience..... Do agree with Cikgu Habsah. The students will never fail if they like the teacher. They will work hard to impress the teacher. For the slow learners, spend more time with them, they just need the attention. It works!!

Sorry, Cikgu Siti, I have to disagree with you on this. I agree with Cikgu Timothy that there will always be failures among students, even if they like the teacher or the subject. I've seen too many such cases, including myself, unfortunately. Our duties are to educate our students to the best of our ability and to keep failure to a minimum. Peace  Grin

Cikgu William, your opinion has changed my view today.I had always tried to pass all my slow learners (normally 30-40 in one class) but towards the end of each particular year, more than half still couldn't reach the minimum passing mark.It drove me to a great disappointment sometimes.Do agree with you that our duty is to keep failure to the minimum.

ERTI GAGAL

Kegagalan bukanlah bererti anda seorang yang gagal
Ia hanyalah bererti anda masih belum berjaya lagi
Kegagalan bukanlah bererti anda tidak mencapai apa-apa
Ia sebenarnya bererti anda sudah mempelajari sesuatu
Kegagalan bukanlah bererti anda seorang bodoh kerana mencuba
Ia bererti anda berani, Anda teguh, bersemangat waja, berbanggalah dengan diri anda
Kegagalan bukanlah bermakna anda tidak akan berjaya
Ia hanyalah bermakna anda memerlukan sedikit masa lagi
Kegagalan bukanlah bermakna anda kecundang

Kita perlu selidiki apakah puncanya...

Kenapa perlu salahkan guru sedangkan guru pun manusia biasa.
